Sevran Center for Jewish Learning & Living
Welcome to the Sevran Center for Jewish Learning & Living (SCJLL) at Temple Aliyah! (Formerly Religious School). Our name tells you all you need to know about us.
We see ourselves as a hub where children and their families can experience Judaism in a meaningful, natural, and comfortable environment.
For Jewish Learning:
Learning is at the core of what it means to be Jewish. At the Sevran Center, our goal is to be a place where kids enjoy learning about what it means to be a Jewish person in the 21st century. We help kids understand their Jewish past so that they can have a meaningful Jewish present and build a successful Jewish future. We do so using an educational model that offers families with children in grades K-7 customization and flexibility to meet the needs and demands of a modern family schedule.
At the Sevran Center, we understand that Judaism is not just meant to be studied; it is meant to be lived. Our educational program is built on experiential learning — a pedagogy that emphasizes students partaking in and creating their own learning opportunities. We don’t discuss Judaism; we do Judaism.
