Activity and Collection Details

Blood Drive 8:30-2:30 p.m.
Pre-registration strongly preferred
Rise Against Hunger 
International hunger relief organization that distributes food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable, mobilizing the necessary resources to end hunger by 2030.
Activity: meal packaging. All shifts are full, but arrive by 11am or 12pm to fill open seats.
Organization supporting young Jewish women and their families facing cancer.
Collection: items for Busy Box for young parents facing cancer. New and unopened toys, books and/or art supplies for babies and children ages 0-12yo.   See box dimensions and examples here: sharsheret.org/event/temple-aliyah-mitzvah-day/
Activity: writing inspirational quotes for cancer patients and family members on stationery to go inside the Busybox. 
Helps people transition out of homelessness and poverty
Collection: Toiletries (can bring to the temple in advance)
  • Shampoo (any size)
  • Toilet paper
  • Toothbrush/toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Disposable razors
  • Bar soap
 Activity: Assembling Hygiene Kits for residents
Identifies the needs of members and the community and offers support and resources. 
Activity: Bereavement Thinking of You Bag Assembly,  Notecard decorating and writing
Serve individuals and families in need in the West Valley by providing food, clothing, medical and vocational training assistance.
Collection: cereal, peanut butter, and tuna
Activity: Make bookmarks to go to children at the shelter to promote literacy
Organization serving premature, ill and impoverished babies through their first year of life.
Collection: Fleece to make blankets – Two pieces of 1 ¼ yard fleece, fun child patterns or bright solids (check JoAnn’s fabric for coupons – can bring fleece to temple in advance).  Diapers, baby wipes, baby toiletries (no powder), new sleepers in sizes 3 -12 months 
Activity: Making “no-sew” fleece blankets for children in need
Provides business attire to low-income individuals to empower them to interview with dignity and confidence.
Collection: Request all donations be clean and prefer on hangers.  
Collecting metal, plastic or wooden hangers and clothing items:
Women’s Suits, Coats, Dresses, Blouses, Slacks, Shoes, Sweater Sets, Accessories
Men’s Suits, Sports Coats, Dress Shirts, Slacks, Ties, Shoes, New Socks, Undershirts
