Hazzan Mimi Haselkorn

Hazzan Mimi Haselkorn joined the Temple Aliyah family in July of 2009.  Hazzan Mimi’s love of Jewish music was cultivated at an early age, where as a teenager, she was a soloist in her synagogue choir. She served the San Gabriel Valley community for almost two decades as Cantor and Education Director of Temple Beth David, teaching at the local Jewish Day School and Preschool, as well as leading a monthly Shabbat morning service at Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center.  Hazzan Mimi received her BA in Sociology (with a minor in Jewish Studies) from UCLA. She completed a chaplaincy internship through the Academy of Jewish Religion in June, 2009. Hazzan Mimi studied hazzanut with Hazzanim Allan Michelson (z”l), Nathan Lam, and Joseph Gole. She is an active member of the Cantors Assembly serving as co-chair of regions and national chair of the education committee and is currently co-chair of the Western Region, helping to plan regional conferences and events.

“Kol han’shama t’hallel Yah-Let every soul praise God! It is my hope that these words from Psalm 150 inspire our Temple Aliyah community to experience God and spirituality with a full heart.  There are so many opportunities to take advantage of, whether taking a class, preparing for Bar/Bat Mitzvah, reading Torah and Haftarah, or leading an evening or morning minyan-Ivdu et Hashem b’simcha.  Let us serve God with joy (and singing)!”
