United Synagogue Youth (USY)/Kadima

Temple Aliyah’s Youth Program (KADIMA & JR USY & SR USY) encompasses a variety of programs and events for children and teens throughout the school year, as well as special summer opportunities (SummerFun, Israel, USA Tours, Jewish Camps, CIT at Camp Yofi), all coordinated by Sarah Hartnig, Director of Youth & Teen Engagement, staff, and the elected peer Board members.

KADIMA: open to 4th – 6th grade

  • Two weekday lounges from 6:15pm – 7:45pm: One Thursday and one Monday each month.
  • A Sunday afternoon activity scheduled each month.
  • One Shabbat weekend called KADIMA KINNUS at Camp Ramah.

JR USY: open to 7th – 8th grade

  • Weekly Wednesday Lounges from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.
  • One Shabbat ‘potluck’ Dinner per month at a home with services at Temple Aliyah.
  • One or two Saturday evening program or a Sunday afternoon event per month.
  • Three (3) weekend retreats (USY Kinnus) at another hosting USY Chapter per school year.
  • 8th grade on up: USY Tours USA: 2 and a half weeks (Far West On Wheels) or 6 weeks (USY On Wheels)
  • CIT Program at Temple Aliyah’s ECE Camp Yofi.
  • Many opportunities for COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS at MANY EVENTS (i.e. Car Wash, Bowl-A-Thon)!

SR USY: open to 9th – 12th grade

  • Weekly Wednesday Lounges from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.
  • One Shabbat ‘potluck’ Dinner per month at a home with services at Temple Aliyah.
  • One or two Saturday evening programs or a Sunday afternoon event per month.
  • Five (5) weekend retreats (USY Kinnus) at another hosting USY Chapter per school year.
  • Summer Israel Pilgrimage, including Spain, Poland, Italy,: 4 weeks – 6 weeks.
  • USY Tours USA: 2 and a half weeks (Far West On Wheels) or 6 weeks (USY On Wheels)
  • CIT Program at Temple Aliyah’s ECE Camp Yofi.
  • Many opportunities for COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS at MANY EVENTS (i.e. Car Wash, Bowl-A-Thon)!

All KADIMA & JR USY & SR USY are events that bring together our children and teens in a social environment with a Jewish twist. Throughout the year these areas are continuously engaged: Israel, Education, Fun, Religion, Holidays, Social Action, Tikun Olam, Tzedakah, Fun, Leadership, Community Service, and did we say Fun?!!
