Sisterhood
Sisterhood of Temple Aliyah exists to serve and to educate, to share joy and ease sorrow, and to be role models for the Jewish woman of today. Our Sisterhood is part of the Pacific Southwest Branch of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism, which is part of an international organization of some 200,000 women in over 800 Sisterhoods in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Mexico, England and Israel. We are proud of the fact that Temple Aliyah Sisterhood women are well represented on the board of directors of our Pacific Southwest Branch and the International organization.
Consisting of over 375 members, our common goals include connection to Jewish women of all generations, commitment to our synagogue and to our children, and contribution to the greater Jewish community.
Among the many activities sponsored by our Sisterhood:
- Weekly Oneg Shabbat and Kiddush luncheons offered to the Temple Aliyah congregation creating an environment where everyone can come together and share lunch on Shabbat.
- Torah Fund, the proceeds of which support the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies, The Jewish Theological Seminary of America and the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies.
- A Holiday Boutique with over 60 vendors offering unique gifts and wares with the proceeds benefiting Sisterhood programs and Temple Aliyah’s Early Childhood Education.
- The granting of scholarships to our youth to attend Camp Ramah, USY on Wheels and USY in Israel.
- Z’havah, designed for young women (25-45) offering a variety of classes from cooking to yoga.
- Monthly educational and social programs designed to enrich the community.
- Temple Aliyah Judaica Shop offering a place to purchase items for the home or special events.
Temple Aliyah Sisterhood is the place for you. Sisterhood meets on the second Tuesday of each month. Please join us and experience a truly enjoyable and rewarding part of Temple Aliyah.
